The Ondo State incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the October 10 election has told Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to “go to hell” if he will not support his gubernatorial bid.

Governor Akeredolu disclosed this yesterday while having a telephone conversation with Tinubu on his sudden support for Eyitayo Jegede SAN of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stating that such move is anti-party and highly dangerous for the success of the party at this delicate time.

Reacting to this, Asiwaju said “I don’t think it is anybody’s business if I say a candidate is good. I have only expressed my mind as a Nigerian about a candidate I see with better ideas and if that calls for this insult and tantrums, then I leave you to your fate”.

Asiwaju Tinubu also stated that his conspicuous absence at the campaign grand finale of APC in Ondo State is unconnected to Akeredolu’s pride and rudeness to party leaders and the masses. “I chose not to attend your last rally because it is evident that Ondo State people do not want you perhaps because of your poor performance and your insubordination to party elders.”

Akeredolu however spit fire back at the APC national leader and said the Jagaban’s support is insignificant. He said, “If you do not support us, we don’t care. We are only here to serve the people and if our service is not needed, we will go back to where we are coming from”.

It should be remembered that the Jagaban, in a close door meeting with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during the “Thank You Visit” for gracing the wedding ceremony of his son and the daughter of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu last weekend, has said that Eyitayo Jegede deserves the best position in Ondo State.

Akeredolu assures his supporters that he will be victorious at the poll against all odd and if otherwise, hr will accept his fate. “We will win the election and if our service is not needed, we will go back to where we are coming from”, the governor said.

The telephone conversation duel has left Akeredolu’s camp in severe panic and confusion as regards what tomorrow holds for him at the poll.
